Unsure about posing and making the right outfit choices? Not to worry! After you book your shoot, I will send you the link to a page full of tips on selecting your outfits, choosing locations, posing, and lots of other suggestions for getting the most out of your shoot.

Preparation can do a lot to ease nerves. Pick your outfit(s) well in advance of your shoot, and save some posing ideas on your phone. Walking into your session armed with ideas means you won’t feel pressured to come up with poses during your shoot.

A common concern I hear from dancers is that they aren’t “good enough” to book a shoot. Dancers tend to be self-critical and it’s easy to fall into a comparison trap – especially on social media. My job and skill set as a dance photographer is to capture you at your best, and that ‘best’ isn’t just pretty feet and high extensions. We will work together to create images that capture YOUR strengths as a dancer.

Dancers under 18 years of age should bring a trusted guardian to shoots – having someone with you can make you feel less anxious. Adults accompanying minors is standard protocol, and I would not recommend booking a shoot with any photographer if not allowed. Having an extra set of hands is also very helpful for carrying outfits and helping with quick changes.

And finally, group sessions are a great option for ‘first shoots.’ Shooting with friends or siblings can make you feel more at ease and always ups the fun-factor during sessions.
